Beech Consultants were asked by Mansell, part of the Balfour Beatty Group. to investigate fly-tipping at a former Calor Gas site. The site had recently changed hands, and following the departure of Calor Gas the site had been broken into and a range of waste materials dumped on the site. The site was programmed for demolition and site clearance prior to redevelopment.
An assessment of the type, extent and quantities of material, together with a budget estimate for its removal, relocation and recovery where appropriate, in order to clear the site. The materials fly-tipped on the site included:
- Large volumes of plastic containers, timber, shredded car parts, industrial salt, brick debris, plastic containers used for clinical waste, tyres, metal, carpet shredding’s, fishing nets, bulk toner and toner cartridges, liquids in containers and general waste materials.
- Approximately 250 number large bags (1.0m3) of plastic containers, shredded car parts, tyres, carpet shredding’s and general waste materials.
