Beech Consultants (BC) were appointed by the owner of a part constructed fishing lake operation. Three lakes had been completed under an existing planning permission for the site. However, the owner was being prosecuted by the Environment Agency for importing a significant additional quantity of waste material to the site without an Environmental Permit.
Beech Consultants were recommended by an existing client and the Agency to assist the company under threat of prosecution to establish a Bespoke Environmental Permit (BEP). Following several meetings there was an agreed way forward established that required allowing an application to be made, on behalf of the owners of the 4.5 hectare site. The following works were undertaken by BC in order to complete the BEP – topographical survey of site levels and the establishment of a final proposed scheme layout which included a further three lakes. Volume calculations were completed to establish the required volume of material required to complete the works, together with slope stability calculations and risk assessments in respect to environmental impact, together with the application document.
