As part of the redevelopment of land either side of a railway corridor and due to levels of residual chemical contamination within on-site soils a Water Supply Risk Assessment was undertaken for the original development and a new phase of the Works.
The Risk Assessment was based on and adopted the UK Water Industry Research (UKWIR) published Guidance for the Selection of Water Supply Pipes to be used in Brownfield Sites (Ref: 10/WM/03/21: the UKWIR Guidance). The Risk Assessment (RA) utilised the results of extensive sampling and chemical testing results from retrieved samples from the site. The RA allowed an assessment of the results against provided industry standard maximum values. The results allowed a specification for water supply pipes, both main and secondary pipes, individual to each property, to be established.
